Troop 15 is sponsored by the Weaverville United Methodist, located at 85 N. Main street, Weaverville, NC. Troop 15 is a member of the Soqua district, inside the Daniel Boone Council. Weaverville is nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains, about 12 miles north of Asheville. The area we live in offers us many opportunities for Scout development year round. Our winters are mild, but we do get snow. There are 5 ski resorts within a 2 hour radius. Troop 15 is within 25 miles of connecting into the Appalachian Trail and 20 minutes from the Bent Creek area where there are diverse trails for hiking, horse back riding and mountain biking. There are also good mountain climbing areas, including our local BSA camp, camp Daniel Boone. We are within 1 hour of the highest point east of the Mississippi River, Mount Mitchell. Mountain stream are abundant in our area. With a climate that encompasses 4 seasons, we have opportunities for year round camping. Troop 15 favorite backpacking areas are Turkeypen and Panthertown. We are blessed with a beautiful area that has multitude of outdoor opportunities.
